Hunt for opening weekend of the 2000-2001 season!
Running parallel to Micheal Middleton's Piney Woods adventure,
I will be bringing you updates from my family's farm near
Pearl, Texas in Coryell County.
The property is approximately 236 acres of
rolling pastures with oak motts and cedar covered
hillsides. A super population of whitetail occupy this
area of Texas. Although no real trophy bucks have been taken in
recent history, the quality is gradually improving. The
land has been hunted by my family for all of my 31 years and I
happen to be the only hunter that has actively pursued deer
with a bow.
The primary objective of the weekend is to at
least put a doe in the freezer while searching for a
respectable buck. There are 5 good bowhunting stand
sites, two being tripods overlooking very popular
feeders. I plan on spreading my hunting time over at
least 3 of the better hunting spots. With any luck, I'll
be able to capture a shot on video!
